KYU opened in Wynwood in 2016 under Michael Lewis, Steven Haigh and Lizzy Maynes of Scotch Bacon Group, arriving as part of a wave of restaurants that helped turn the neighborhood, until then known mostly for its street murals, into a serious dining destination. The founders sold the restaurant in 2020.
